We Explore The Possible

We are a family owned and operated licensed pool design and construction company based in Orange County, California.

Longtime friends, Malkiel Nieves and Jose Cabrera, founded the company. Their mission is clear, build quality pools and provide outstanding customer service. With an extensive background in the pool industry, they have done it all, from servicing to building amazing pool projects. Before branching off on their own, they worked for one of the nation’s largest pool builders. They gained a lot of experience from building a high volume of pools per year. The two decided that it was vital to build a personal relationship with each and every one of their customers. This is how we “explore the possible” by starting each project with a fresh perspective and an open mind.

Is there financing for my backyard project or pool?

Yes, there are several companies that offer home improvement loans. Our preferred one is Lyon Financial but you can try others such as Viking Capital & Lightstream, another good option is a home equity loan, exploring refinance options, or discussing with your financial institution.

How do I pick a contractor?

There are 3 essential rules when picking a contractor.

1) Make sure their license is active and in good standing, this is as easy as going to http://www.cslb.ca.gov and look them up.

2) Check out their active projects or job sites, check out their quality, talk to their customers, and find out how happy they are with them.

3) Make sure you get along with them, a relationship between a contractor and customer is often harder than a marriage, you’re going to be interacting with them anywhere from 2-12 months on a daily basis. Construction will destroy the yard and then build it back up, it’s definitely not an easy process, but if you guys get along, it doesn’t have to be that difficult.

Will a pool fit in my backyard?

You will be surprised at how a small backyard can have the most innovative design. Good designers can design an enjoyable pool no matter the size.

How long does construction take?

There are a lot of variables at work here, permitting, HOA approvals, and weather. Typically permitting will take about a month or two with construction lasting about 2 months. Some larger scale projects may take up to 6 months or more, this largely depends on the features integrated in the design.

How do I know if my pool builder is doing quality work?

Pools can be built in a number of ways, one of the best ways to check if the builder is doing quality work is checking out their completed projects and reviews. For some heavy reading on pool engineering check out pooleng.com for more resources.

Is there a warranty?

Warranties are often tied to the individual application, service, or equipment. There is no blanket answer here, but we would be happy to answer any specific questions you may have.

Should I choose plaster or pebble?

One of the biggest decisions is what product to use for the interior surface finish. Factors that should play into your decision are your yard’s natural surroundings, how much pool maintenance you’re willing to do, durability, and cost.

Standard pool plaster is the most popular style of pool surfacing. Plaster is much less expensive compared to Pebble but has a few drawbacks to be aware of. Plaster finishes are highly susceptible to discoloring, staining, and harboring bacteria due to the porous nature of the material. A plaster pool should be re-plastered approximately every 5 – 10 years depending on how well the pool is maintained.

While Pebble is more expensive than plaster, it is the highest quality pool surfacing material available due to its longevity and ability to hide chemical residue. Pebble is made from specially formulated cement blended with pebble aggregates. It’s a little rougher on your feet than plaster, and if that is a concern, you can check out Mini Pebble which is a smaller aggregate. A Pebble surface should last 20+ years with proper care and maintenance.

Chlorine, saltwater, or Ozone?

The biggest myth surrounding saltwater pools is that they contain zero chlorine. Saltwater pools aren’t chlorine-free, saltwater pools use a process called electrolysis to produce just enough chlorine to disinfect the water. Lower chlorine levels make saltwater pools gentler on skin and eyes. This is a great choice if the pool is to be used by young children who are immersed for long periods of time. Because of the natural chlorine, saltwater pools require fewer chemicals (and less attention) compared to chlorinated pools. Saltwater systems do have some drawbacks and can damage some exterior and interior finishes.

Chlorine pools are popular because it’s cheaper to install and easier to maintain. Unlike saltwater, chlorine is added if too much chlorine is added, it is known to be harsh on the skin, eyes, and hair. If too little is added you’ll have algae and bacteria growing in your pool. This means that you need to check on chlorine content on a regular basis.

There is a third option, UV and ozone systems, our personal favorite is combining these two. UV light and ozone are healthier alternatives to chlorine. The Ultra UV2, ultraviolet (UV) and ClearO3, ozone (O3) generators dramatically reduces the amount of chlorine usage, is eco-friendly, and more powerful than chlorine. The combination of UV and O3 creates Hydroxyl Radicals to oxidize inorganic waste products and inactivates harmful microorganisms resistant to chlorine leaving your pool crystal clear and healthy. UV and O3 reduces irritated eyes, discolored hair and swimsuits, and It’s environmentally friendly.

Safety and Upkeep?

There are so many options for pool safety, upkeep, and maintenance. Safety is our highest priority and urge every family to take a pool safety course and ensure that their family members are pool safe and understand the basics of swimming.

Let's collaborate on your new project. We are Ready when you are.
